Forbe’s reports that Facebook is buying Instagram for a cool $1 billion. It seems the social media giant is maintaining its edge in the mobile photo sharing environment. The Instagram app and community are one of the fastest growing communities largely due to the stylish photos that people can easily create and distribute.
Facebook is doing everything it can to maintain its cut above the competition including spending a huge amount of money for a photo creating and sharing company. As images are the biggest source of engagement in the social media world, it becomes quite obvious that a social media platform would do everything in their power to make it easier for their users to create and share beautiful images on their platform. As Facebook has enhanced the experience for marketers and business pages, as reported earlier, making Facebook much easier to broadcast a marketing campaign, it’s most likely that the payoff for Facebook will not only come in the form of more users, but in the form of more marketers compensating Facebook for the premium services currently offered. Instagram will enhance both the user and marketer experience.
I gotta admit, though, Instagram is a cool tool.
